Darin Johnson is the president of BIS Consulting. His expertise includes risk-based decisions support methods, integrating asset condition, criticality, risk including wildfire risk, and life-cycle cost to help optimize spending on aging infrastructure and to evaluate complex projects, such as generator unit life-extension or distribution system modernization.
He and his colleagues at BIS Consulting are thought-leaders in the industry, developing novel approaches to asset health indexing, consequence of failure in highly redundant networks, and project analyses involving many assets and multiple streams of benefits (e.g., reliability, avoided wildfire risk, deferred capital). These techniques have been applied across a wide range of asset types: electric transmission and distribution; hydro, thermal, and wind generation; water/wastewater; facilities and fleet; and ferry terminals and vessels.
Darin is the Lead Convenor of the Risk Management working group of the International Wildfire Risk Mitigation Consortium, and Facilitator of the Asset Management working group of the Electric Asset Best Practice Consortium.
