Darin Johnson is the president of BIS Consulting, where the BIS Consulting team excels in providing economic evaluation services to support risk-based decision-making methods. His expertise encompasses integrating asset condition, criticality, wildfire risk, and life-cycle cost to optimize spending on aging infrastructure and to evaluate complex projects, such as generator unit life-extension or distribution system modernization.
Darin and his colleagues at BIS Consulting are recognized thought-leaders in risk management consulting, developing innovative approaches to asset health indexing and assessing the consequences of failure in highly redundant networks. Their project analyses consider multiple assets and various benefits, including reliability, avoided wildfire risk, and deferred capital. These advanced techniques have been effectively applied across a wide range of asset types, including electric transmission and distribution, hydro, thermal and wind generation, water/wastewater systems, facilities and fleet management, as well as ferry terminals and vessels.
Darin also serves as the Lead Convenor of the Risk Management working group within the International Wildfire Risk Mitigation Consortium and is the Facilitator of the Asset Management working group at the Electric Asset Best Practice Consortium.
